Norval Morrisseau (1932-2007) was a self-taught artist of Ojibwa ancestry (his Ojibwa name meaning “Copper Thunderbird”. He originated the painting style referred to as “Woodlands Style,” or “legend art.”
Norval Morrisseau is part of the “Indian Group of Seven” and is one of the most desirable and sought after Indigenous artists.
