Native Artist Manuel Salazar (b. 1966) was born in Seattle, WA and is affiliated with the Cowichan Tribe in Duncan, BC.

In his early twenties, Manuel began to work full-time at his artwork, interpreting the legends of his Salish heritage. He has apprenticed with Delmar Johnnyand Art Vickersand is inspired by Simon Charlieand Robert Davidson.

Salazar has spent the last two years working at the Native Heritage Centre in Duncan, concentrating on the design and painting of traditional drums. He is presently looking to expand his work into the medium of carving and jewellery.

Salazar  has developed his own unique style, blending traditional Salish elements with bright contemporary graphics.
