Stan Greene is a respected and well-established Coast Salish artist born in Mission, British Columbia in 1953. He is mostly known for his carvings, although he works in many art forms including print, painting and dancing.
His carvings frequently incorporate mixed-media including objects such as nails, fur, horsehair, bone, leather, cedar bark, copper and abalone.
He began carving at the age of 13 after being inspired by his Grandfather. From 1976-77 he attended the Gitanmaax School of Northwest Coast Indian Art and Design where he learned Tsimshian carving and design techniques.
He is self taught in the Salish art form. Because of his creativity and his dedication to preserving the Salish art form Stan received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2007.
Greene now lives in Chilliwack, BC with his wife and three daughters.
